Thank you to the 50 dedicated souls who braved the heat (especially those in the cow and sheep suits!) to march with Stop LIve Exports in the Freo Festival Parade, as part of the Fremantle Community. We got lots of cheers and claps and people were keen to take our flyers and stickers.

Special thanks to Committee members Michelle and Alicia for taking charge and getting people organised - I unfortunately had a back issue that saw me miss this one. Thanks also to Dominique, Crystal and Marjie for taking SO MANY photos! (LOTS more on Facebook)

You'll be seeing a lot more of us! KL

The live export trade MUST be stopped. Together, with the cruel treatment meted out to innocent animals in the recent footage on the greyhound industry, it is up to all members of the community to demonstrate which side of the fence they sit on. It is not enough to simply voice disapproval. One needs to also DO something to indicate change of behaviour. So-either become a vegie, become a pescie-vegie, stand on a bridge, pledge some money, write to politicians, dob in people who take part in the trade-so much can be done with different methods. We must never give up defending these innocent creatures.

We would love to see you "put your money where your mouth is", so to speak, Liza - we've been doing this for over 20 years, we have over 7000 likers on our facebook page and over 2000 email subscribers, but only 300 financial members - what we do doesn't pay for itself.

Just a $5 monthly pledge (that's just $1.15 per week!) goes a long way when many contribute a little.

And never give up trying to influence other people to act on this issue. There are an awful lot of people who are in denial about what is going on. We need to keep reminding them via the media, workplaces, and friendships. The live export trade is barbaric and must stop.

There are so many people who oppose live exports, but the majority leave it to a few to actually stand up and do something about it. We are currently trying to increase our membership monthly pledge - just $5 per month (that's just $1.15 per week) gets you membership and really helps with our campaign - a regular and consistent income means we can plan our ongoing campaign and spend less time and energy on fundraising - we'd love to see your name on our list of monthly pledgers - all this doesn't just pay for itself :o)
